Social Networking Sites

Facebook = Conversations among friends

The idea behind Facebook is to connect people that already know each other. Conversations on Facebook are similar to conversations with friends around the dinner table. Facebook users must be interesting by sharing items, current events, and stories.

Twitter = Mingling conversations

unlike facebook, Twitter can connect you to people that you find interesting, but don't necessarily know. Therefore, users will have to mingle and engage with conversations that will be similar to conversations between strangers at a cocktail party which shares common interests. Since people are following the interests other represent it is important to stay
focused and demonstrate that their information is interesting and sweeping.

MySpace conversations = Self expression

Conversations in MySpace are all about self expression, like music, art, dance. Therefore, people who share the same taste in music for example, regardless if the know each other or not, are connected to each other.

Google + = Circles
Just like facebook the idea is to connect people that already know each other, but with emphasis on creating different circles and sharing certain information to certain circles. For example, parents, close friends, casual acquaintances, and so on. The advantage that Google + may have in the future is to combine all in one, search engine, mail, and social network. So far, google + and facebook are very similar to what they offer as a social network site.
